Performance Is Electric

The mellowest version of the Mustang Mach-E peaks at 266 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. Folks who choose the most aggressive powertrain can take advantage of 480 horsepower and 634 lb-ft of torque. A notable element of the electric motors on the Mach-E is that they apply nearly all of the torque at once. Unlike with an internal combustion engine, you don't have to build torque to achieve takeoff. It shows with a zero-to-60-mph time of just 3.8 seconds. Rear- and all-wheel drives are available for the Mach-E.

Intriguingly, the Mustang Mach-E doesn't trade efficiency to achieve all this power. With an efficiency rating of 107 mpge city and 95 mpge highway, the most efficient version of the Mach-E outperforms many more timid EVs. The top range in the lineup is 320 miles per charge, too.

Rally Styling

The Mustang Mach-E is an SUV with a rally-inspired design. It is relatively close to the ground and has a swooped sportback rear. The Mach-E also has plenty of lower cladding to protect the body paint from rocks, in case you decide to put its rally styling to the test.

Ford includes an interior that's clean, modern and full of tech. The dashboard houses a huge infotainment screen. Likewise, the digital instrument cluster in front of the driver uses a table-like design. Bucket-style seating provides comfort for up to five people, and the Mach-E's long wheelbase ensures they'll have room to stretch. The Mach-E also delivers 34.4 cubic feet of rear cargo room, a number that'll compete with top mainstream SUVs.

Technology

Ford Sync 4A sets the tone for the tech experience in the Mustang Mach-E, providing access to apps, radio, navigation and more in the 15.5-inch touchscreen interface. A wireless charging pad is standard on all trims, too. Ford Connect lets you use your phone to access the Mustang Mach-E, including tracking it down in the parking lot. Phone users can also connect their devices to the Mach-E via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Safety

On the safety side, the technology suite runs through Ford Co-Pilot360. The system provides features like pedestrian detection, lane keeping, automatic emergency braking, defensive steering and hill-descent assistance. Rear parking assistance is standard, and there's even a rearview camera with a virtual surround view.

Trim Levels

  • Entry-level buyers will want to check out the Mustang Mach-E Select. The trim includes all of the base features, and it has ActiveX upholstery, 18-inch wheels, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. The base battery is 72 kWh, and there's an option of a 91-kWh battery.

  • The Mach-E Premium adds a power liftgate, a B&O audio system with ten speakers, power-folding mirrors, and heated seats. It also offers ambient interior lighting and 19-inch wheels.

  • Folks who want the most power should opt for the Mustang Mach-E GT. In addition to the 480-hp powertrain, it includes a MagneRide suspension and Brembo front brakes. The Mach-E Rally is also an off-road version of the GT with a rally-tuned suspension and rally-specific styling.
